Wshew..! Had no power about 6 1/2 days...to hot for a Long Islander. Was going to call an old girlfriend (she was always a cold biach) but said forgettaboutit!
Actually drove back to Florida 2 days before to board up the house, first time I ever needed to do that. I was the only one driving south on 95...
Traffic was crazy going north, never seen anything like it before, lots of cars in the middle of the night. Every time I stopped for gas to top off the truck it was like Woodstock at a gas station
Thank God most people kept their clothes on
Took I-10 west to 75 south and that was about the same. Lost power Monday @ 2am. About 11am met with 50-60 trucks of lineman from Canada that were parked at the mall waiting for direction from the project manager of duke energy (who he didn't know where to start) and asked WTF? no one knew!
After talking with the Canadian lineman and thanked them for showing up found out that there were on O/T when they reached the US border 17 hour days at $82.50 an hour...you guys do the math...I need to be a lineman but not today.
Had a few trees down and some pieces of fence. At least now I can see my hot neighbor walking around with nothing on except a smile...Thanks Irma...
Hope all you guys are well.
