I'm moving this thread from the previous post (from restoration shiny and new section ) the bike is crusty, doesn't belong in that category
It was 65 and sunny today in NW Indiana, so today was the maiden voyage on the 74 barn find. First time with gasoline in the tank instead of premix. Bike ran great nice mid range no problems except..............

1. Idle too high how do I adjust three carbs

2. Bike will not shut off with key , I have to use the handlebar switch ? how do I fix that

3. I rebuilt the petcock but it leaks ?

too recap 74 h2 barn find

ok can't load photo because this sight is out of date

lets try this

today first ride

The blk/wht wire from CDI to ign sw should connect to the blk/yel via ign sw in "off" position... that kills the engine like kill sw does. Make sure those wires are connected solid in the connector block.

Depends on where it is leaking

ok can't load photo because this sight is out of date
Site "out of date" has nothing to do with not being able to load a photo.

oops I had the tank off the bike and with the petcock in the run or reserve position it will leak petrol out of the hose nipples. I only replaced the four hole o ring seal and the bung gasket

other things I noticed.
The oem handlebars suck are are getting replaced with some superbars, today !
the nos brake pedal I found in the attic of the local Kaw dealer stands out ,it's too nice. I'm reinstalling the old cruddy one.
the big KAWASAKI stickers on the tank need to go.
otherwise so far so good.
not bad for less then $1600 so far, not counting my Lesters

The petcock lever should be polished smooth where it meets the 4 hole gasket and a little silicone grease isn't a bad idea.
The tiny oring is sometimes a problem and should be replaced.
If it still leaks.. then try stretching the spring a tad.
