Hi Specialists for painting and restauration!

Today I'm doing a H1A for a customer. We found some gastanks were the front brackets under the tank were painted black. It looks like it
is original. Does anybody knows exactly how is must look like. And if it's okay with the black colour was it satin or shiny?
Perhaps someone who rides an original painted bike. Also a picture would be helpful.

Many thanks and all the best from Germany
Ralf

I think that is original, Ralf, and it would be a satin or "matte" finish - not shiny, but mot dead flat either. You could get something in a spray-can that would be durable, and look correct. Google 'Kawasaki H1-A images' !

I just bought some H1A parts that includes the tank. Mine is black on the brackets also. Looks to be original paint.

My H1A is black with a satin finish. It's neither shiny nor flat black.

I'm guessing it's the same sheen as used on the H1B front fender bracket, fork ears, front tank mounts, etc...

Paul

PS - got the swing arm back from the painter today so really looking forward to those needle rollers - hopefully they won't get caught up in Santa's deliveries
