took my h2a for a ride after it sat for a long time, i'll get right to the point ...the brake caliper was stuck & the motor overheated & shut down, i managed to roll down a hill & bump start it & ride the 10 miles back home on 2 cylinders. I haven't been able to get the middle cylinder to start ever since. i have:
1.checked spark ( plenty )
2.checked compression (140psi)
3.cleaned every oriface in the carb (twice) tried starter fluid in the carb & in the cylinder
4.removed the exhaust pipe & cleaned & removed the oil soaked baffle material
the 2 outer cyl. run fine, i have switched the middle spark plug with an outer & it will work on an outer cyl so the plug is good
what am i missing ? does the h2a have a low speed coil for each cylinder ? i've hit a wall with this one , any help is appreciated

The low speed coil is shared by all cylinders. If you have plenty of spark it would seem the ignition sys is ok.
Can't understand why, if there is good spark, that starting fluid wouldn't fire the cylinder?
Maybe swap carbs?

First, I don't see how a stuck brake would cause the engine to quit. It seems like you have two different problems.

Are you sure you have spark on all three cylinders when you kick the engine? If the center cylinder is the only one not firing, swap the center CDI unit with one of the others and see what happens. You can do this by swapping white wires and red wires of the two units.

There is only one low speed magneto coil, and if you can get spark at kicking speeds, it's OK.

(Typed in parallel with mraxl's post)

thanks, there is definitely spark, i have held the middle plug to a head fin while kicking & i have held it to a fin while the bike was running on the other 2 cylinders.
i'm assuming the bike overheated & shut down because the stuck caliper was making the motor work too hard (it was a very hot day too)

Can't believe one had anything to do with the other. :eh:

I really doubt if the engine shut down because of being overworked. They usually seize or show their displeasure in some other way. The carb swap idea seems like the best next step.

(typing too slowly today. )

Did you have a look at your signal coils? Maybe the centre is loose/out of time?

Try the short shot of carb cleaner when she is running, she should at least pop off.
