This mini GSX-R was brought to the USA just one year, to compete with Yamaha's popular YSR50. But Suzuki's U.S. importer got cold feet about making it street legal and they took off the stuff that made it street legal before shipping them to dealers. So they were used as pit bikes or ridden on private property. Only a few hundred were sold, so the bike is very rare.

I was a Suzuki dealer from '87 to '94 and, when I sold my business, I kept this bike. It has never been prepped, so (obviously) it's never been ridden.

I kept the bike in storage for 17 years. Unfortunately, the bike's front brake master cylinder sprung a leak due to a seal that dried out, so the front brake isn't working. Some of the paint around the master cylinder peeled off from contact with brake fluid. Time is evil sometimes.

It picked up some VERY minor scuffs and scratches from close proximity to boxes while in storage.

Distressingly, I could not find the Statement of Origin (the bike has never been registered with the DMV) or the owner's manual or the keys when I cleared out the storage room. I contacted Suzuki about getting a duplicate Statement of Origin, but they told me they don't keep records that far back.

If you buy my bike, I would give you a Bill of Sale. Since it's not street legal and requires no DMV registration, this is really not a problem. It's kind of like buying a used riding lawn mower; a Bill of Sale is what you'd get.

I've been offered $2500 for it back in '94 and I declined. I imagine a new, never prepped GSX-R50 is worth much more than this today. But given that it will need some work to make it perfect again, I'm willing to sell it for $750 or best offer.

I might be willing to consider an interesting trade.

Please, no "is it still available" emails. I'll yank the ad immediately when the bike gets sold.

Seems to me if I was anywhere near that area, picking this up for roughly $750 is a no-brainer...
