Hi Guys,

I haven't been active lately but just moved my H2 into the shop for a top-end rebuild. I raced it last year at Loring (land speed) but I think it was starting to seize (slowing under full throttle) and I haven't run it since then. I do have a set of race-ported cylinders, 39mm carbs, new Wossner's to install but am trying to decide if I should redo the crank seals. The crank was done about 10 years ago by Damon but only has a couple of thousand miles on it. I know it can't hurt to do it again but what's the experience with degradation over time been? I have not performed any leakdown other other tests yet, just trying to get my ducks-in-a-row before winter arrives. This might become a crazy street bike but will also be raced again.

Comments, opinions, etc. welcome!

Frank

Hi Frank, if it were mine, I'd go ahead and do the seal pressure test. The crank builders say that they can be pressed apart only a couple times before they're too loose to use, so it would be counterproductive to rebuild it if it doesn't need it.
