As I posted before, I just used the wrong template, it was pretty close to the piston on the right. As you can see, the skirt did crack, there just wasn't enough material left. But, that's testing!

I personally wouldn't use the half moon cutout on motors not designed from the start for reed valves. As you can see on the Yammi piston, the bottom of the skirt is much closer to the piston pin, so the leverage is a lot less, and a lot of piston above the pin for support.

Lets see, OW31 Replica pistons have been in use in various race engines since 1976, along with more than a few stock pistons modified just like them, BOTH IN RACE ENGINES, AND ON THE STREET, not only by me, but, a lot more of those I know that build engines and ride them.

Then, according to all of the rest of you that have NEVER TRIED IT, THEY DON'T LIVE.

Really nice to see those that have NO experience with things know so much about them, and disbelieve those that HAVE done it, had it work and live, VERY WELL.

NOTHING quite the same as a person, or group of persons with both a completely closed mind, and, whom knows it all, even when they have never done it.

If they didn't work, do you really think Yamaha would have still used them? Not a chance. I can see all this will lead to even more of the experts telling me I don't knowing what I am speaking of, because they know more than I do, on stuff I already did. So, I have other things to do. I never should have responded with any info, to this, or any topic, on this board. I should have just sat back and read only, just like I have been doing.

Enough, see ya.

Tuner has been very helpful. I value the opinion of anyone that is trying to help out our cause. Especially when it comes from someone with first hand knowledge.
