I keep hearing the sound of the motor going over and over, and it's been a few days.

Sorry it went, glad it did not cause an accident (lock up/etc)

Even though that would have made a good video too.

Scrambler 73 asked the question and I haven't seen any replies yet.

What kind of performance gains are expected from slotting pistons?

With no inlet skirt, it can't break off and fall into the engine.

I like this ^^^

that said, how much do you suppose bore (and piston) longevity suffers because of the reduced contact (piston to wall) area?

and I know, I know....most people barely ride these bikes anyways, so who cares....

would still like to know what the difference in HP is between 4 holes and 2 slots.

Big +1
I can see the importance for a race bike, but if the percentage gain is not that great, the holes are a no brainer for a street bike

OTOH, I don't recall slots to be a problem for the SE guys running sled reed set-ups; maybe due to their motors being run for such a short time and no down shift / compression braking loads?

Wouldn't the piston want to rock with no inlet skirt?

Yeah, I'd imagine it would sound pretty crappy... They sound bad enough when the skirt is only collapsed by .002".
Not to mention the pistons are tapered and the skirt being the largest diameter, I just don't see it being viable on a motor where you want some mileage out of it.
