I posted this wrongly so i'll try again. Rod Question Who makes the best performance rods for H2s, stock length? I am resurrecting a few of my projects from 72-81 that most have never seen, and others would say can't work. Well folks should know that you can have a Mechanical Fuel Injected, or supercharged or turbocharged H2, and contrary to popular belief, the seals don't blow out on the crank, and they can spool a turbo (i've seen 18lbs of boost) and H2s don't eat transmissions, when properly treated. So now it's time to put these bikes on the road, for people to see what type of work was being done in garages in Indy 45 years ago. Any help would be appreciated, and will share any help or questions i can answer! Thanks Coebie |

Spoke with Charlie Smith and Joe Molyneux, and they are very helpful! Now looking for help eliminating all of the CDI ignition, keeping the charging system, as i go to EFI for the street. Have already converted my mechanical throttle bodies and need to get power for ECU and coils. If you Know who i might talk to on this, let me know. Thanks so much |

Graft on a single Ford/MSD pickup with a 120 degree, 3 tab reluctor, and 8 pin GM EFI-HEI MODULE, 3 coils set to fire all 3 coils, 3 times per revolution. The EFI-HEI module will run all 3 coils at the same time, send a phase signal to the EFI computer, and fire when the computer tells it to. Spark plug gap, MAXIMUM, .045 each plug. Worked well on my supercharged, EFI Yamaha TZ750 inline 4 two stroke street bike conversion, but set up to fire 1-4 together, then, 180 degrees later, 2-3 ( standard TZ750 firing phasing ). I worked the blower and EFI out for it with a friend, when we both lived in Whittier, California. He worked for Blower Drive Service, and started his own blower shop, "Superchargers, U.S.A". |

H2RTuner, Thanks, Glad to find a two cycle brother from my Generation, and someone who tried what they wanted to dream! Your post gave me a lift, that some of the projects I've kept for 40 years, are worth getting out of storage, and getting on the street! As for what i am needing, I was asking, can the charging sys. be separated from the engine harness so the battery can be maintained to run lites and EFI ECU? Thanks again, sorry it took so long, but doing tile work in the wifes kitchen! When I get a few minutes, I will post pictures of projects! |

As long as you keep the four charging coils in the alternator, with their two yellow wires that originally lead to the regulator, and that regulator or a similar replacement, you can use that system to supply 12v charging current. It's just 2 wires from the alternator to the regulator, and two wires out of the regulator... 12VDC and ground. Output current (DC) is about 7 amps maximum when the engine is running at normal road speeds. |

Most are similar to the original. Places like Oregon Motorcycle Parts have them. http://oregonmotorcycleparts.com/VRRPM.html Rick's has one with connectors installed: https://ricksmotorsportelectrics.com/Af ... tor-10_337 If you want to run without a battery, get a big capacitor like 22,000 uF or bigger, at 25 volts or so and use it in place of the battery. It's necessary to prevent some oddities that would otherwise show up, like high RPM misfire and jumping timing. But with an ECU I think a battery will be needed. |
