Post subject:  H1R fairing and piston rings

Hi all,
After my two restoring projekts I want to try to built a road race bike of a H1 with fairings. Just for fun and so i can learn how to run a bike
The project starts with all the leftover parts. 70 frame 74 motor fork and swing.
Then I ordered fairing from Andy at http://www.vintagekawasaki.com/webshop/ and bodyset from John Eylor.
But i have talked around of this during the summer and i have met som people how have been new friends of mine sains then.
So to the problems.
This is a 70 H1R (not mine!!)

The bottom end of the fairinge dosent fit. Why ??Wrong year or? Its a real H1R -70 ?? Rest of it is very similar to the original fairing you can se at the bakground (the blue wone).

Then he have problem with to find piston rings. He get new pistons original H1R with first over 0.5 but it is the H1R pistons with the thinner piston rings Anybody haves a cloe?? The last thing is the seat.
Janne (the ovner) knows that you can by from Andy a new one but he prefera a originakl one
if enybody haves one with the oil tank.

WOW Juha, that is quite a project you are taking on.
So are you saying the fairing from Andy does not fit your frame correctly?
Didn't the H1R have a specially designed frame?
Perhaps a bone stock one is different enough to make it not fit right???

Anyway, keep the pics coming.
I will need some nice photos for next years calendar too.

Looks like a H1R-A fairing possibly??
There were different style belly pans on the H1R and H1R-A?

Different year pipes can cause issues as well as the fairing mounting. Suggest leaving upper fairing loose from mounts, install and fasten belly pan, fit fairing, see if the mounting holes are even close. Remember that with these fairings and belly pans, there was heat insulation stuck to the belly pan, so the pipes don't burn through the 'glass. It actually looks like the rear of the main fairing is mounted too high on the chassis.

Propebly the faring is for -71 H1R-A. Janne knows that the bottom was built in aluminium on this bike.
I´m sorry but this bike is not mine, just the faring. I have a ordinary 70 frame and 74 fork swing and engine witch i will try to built some kaind of roadrace replika. This bike is way to expencive for me
Janne has a very nice collection of race bikes. Couple of TZ750, one of them has been at a museum in Japan and looks brand new newer raced i think and no one has tuch it with tools.

Thanks
Juha

The fairing is for a H1RA, you cannot quite see the front of the pipes on the bike, but they look like H1R pipes. The H1R headers cross over, the pipe exiting the left is actually the middle pipe.

This is one of two H1R sold in sweden 1970 and it has crossover pipes.

The H1-R oil tank, mounting bracket etc are used in some Kawasaki lawn mower or similar, and may still be available. H2Racer probably has the details (new part numbers etc).
