Out of action now for a few days, the cam chain tensioner on the P&M had broken and the chain had been thrashing around making a lot of mess. Parts on order, hopefully arriving tomorrow, then the bike will go back together for the race on Friday.

Two strokes are so much simpler!

I completed the Classic Superbike race yesterday on the P&M, finishing 11th out of 24.

I started slow, then was getting in the zone on lap two, when the tank strap came off again at the begining of the lap. Dang, holding the tank down with belly and legs I was still putting in a good lap when I missed my braking point at the end of the Sulby straight and t-boned the bridge at a slow speed. I had to walk my bike backwards to get going. It was still a 98 mph lap.

It started raining on lap 3 between Ramsey and 33rd and I put my fastest lap in on lap 4 at 99.6 mph.

Prepping the bike today for the other Island then heading back to the US on Monday.

This has been a quite extraordinary trip, circuit racing will never be the same.

I'm curious now, is it a case of "been there, done that" or "I'll be back"? Personally, I would put it down to experience and look for the next challenge

Rick,

A very good question. I am still thinking this through. I can go a lot quicker and it would be extremely challenging and satisfying to do this.

On the flip side, accidents are only a question of time when you are so much on the edge, And then there is the time commitment, it takes two weeks to run a race or two.

I will see how much circuit racing makes my blood pump after this experience. Got to get a fix somewhere :)
