Thanks guys. This has been quite a trip already and I have only been here 7 days. It is all still quite overwhelming, here is the best way to think about it, take your fastest ever little country rode ride, image it 20-30 mph faster, then do that for 4 x 38 miles or 150 miles.

I have been really fortunate with the weather and got another 4 laps last night. 4 laps is huge as the first one out each night is still scaring the crap out of me, then I can get into the zone. Last night I had a list of 8 corners to work on, I guess the plan worked +2mph on the ZX6 and 4 on the P&M. I worked really hard for those few mph, not sure yet where the next step is going to come from :(

The bikes are both working great, I have a P&M shaped dent in my head now as the bike continues to butt me over the hill crests.

Dave

following incident

2012-08-24 14:10
The final full qualifying session for the 2012 Manx Grand Prix races was abandoned at 7.20pm following an incident on the first lap of qualifying. The accident occurred by Alexander Drive, on the approach to Quarterbridge, and the rider was airlifted to Nobles Hospital where his injuries are currently being assessed.

The session had earlier been delayed while the road was swept following a road traffic accident before the roads were closed.

The session eventually began at around 6.50pm with Gavin Lupton and David Yeomans first away but the red flag was shown at the start finish/line shortly after 7.05pm following the incident at Alexander Drive. Riders completed the lap and were then brought by the grandstand at the end of their first lap.

The roads are due to close at 5pm tomorrow evening with the three lap Newcomers (A, B and C) race scheduled to start at 5.30pm (17.30pm) followed by a practice session for all other classes with roads due to open again no later than 9pm.

John Simpson will start favourite in the Newcomers A race having clocked 113.394 in the class in Thursday’s session. Ramsey rider Andrew Dudgeon, a beneficiary of the Olive Bullock Scolarship, tops the Newcomers B (SuperTwin) qualifying with 104.798 while James Cowton, who posted the fastest time of the week for a newcomer on his 600cc machine but competes in the lightweight newcomers class will start favourite for the Newcomers C race following his 103.575 set in Wednesday’s race.

Sad news :(

Rider killed in MGP practice session
Published online at 25/08/2012 12:19:07

It has been confirmed a Manx Grand Prix rider was killed in an incident during last night's practice session.
Steve Osborne, 60, a newcomer from the Isle of Man, came off at Alexander Drive, just before the Quarter Bridge roundabouts.
He was taken to Nobles Hospital but died fom his injuries.
In a statement issued this morning, the Manx Motorcycle Club says Mr Osborne, an IT consultant with the Isle of Man Government, first competed on a home built BSA Bantam with the Formula Bantam Racing Club at Llandow in 1967 at the age of 16.
His son Stuart was a newcomer in last year’s Manx Grand Prix and Steve was a member of his support team and pit crew during last year’s meeting.
He achieved a 5th placed finish in this year’s ‘Support’ race at the Pre-TT Classic on a 500cc Suzuki.
Harvey Garton, Chairman of the Manx Motor Cycle Club says "Steve was one of the great characters around the Manx Grand Prix paddock and was a well known figure in the local racing scene. It's a great loss to the sport and on behalf of the Club I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to his son Stuart and his friends and family"
Mr Osborne was married and his next of kin has been informed.

Horrible news. The Island is certainly a dangerous place, not much going on where this poor guys crashed and it was probably the only dry section of the track. Sh*t happens.

I toddled around for one lap on the P&M in very wet conditions.
