A most excellent day in my week at the gap :D

The museum is all American motorcycles and there is a lot of really rare and interesting stuff.

Gas stop on the way to the museum

Parked in the shade and ready for some history

Outside the front door, guard dog in the same place he was last year

All bikes in the museum run. Dale, the owner, walks around BSing with guests and starts up some of the bikes.

Dale was very impressed with Chuck "Supertune"
Image

The Hill Climb exhibit is especially impressive. Back in the day, hill climbing was serious business with the factories.

Most of the dozen + hill climb bikes have factory provenance

If it's powered by an American motorcycle engine it may be in this museum. Harley Davidson powered airplane anyone?

The sign said "world's first jet ski"

Harley powered ice saw
Don't even think about Cody!!!

There were no signs saying "do not touch" or "do not sit on bikes"

So we had our way like it was dollar night

As we prepared to leave, Dale was giving a girl a ride around the compound and stopped to chat.

We rode part of the Blue Ridge Parkway back. Rough pavement as shown well in this video that jim-K posted elsewhere (Chuck's RD)

Perfect weather, great guys, great roads and a nice fun pace :D :D :D

Wheels thru time is a must see. Thanks Stroker for the documentation on your guys trip there.

In 2011 Ben, Craig, and I stopped there for a visit. As we were leaving "Trapper James" stopped his weed eater and came over to talk to us.

This was one of my fondest encounders during all of my DG trips. Listen to Trapper James as he tells about making the orphans happy to be orphans, being a Olypmian, and creating the Cabage Patch Dolls. My favorite quote his description of the museum's curator which I see you guys got to meet and talk to.

Enjoy
