My 2025 Deals Gap report. I had a great time spending a week at the Deals Gap Motorcycle Resort for the 26th Annual 2 Stroke Meet. Everyone had a great time and there were a bunch of people and bikes in attendance. There were a few unusual bikes also. As always, Ian, Toby, and Joe Baxter brought their Gammas. Shane and Joe brought KR1s. Kevin, a friend of Toby and Ian's, brought a TZR250 as did Mark Haase. Jon McDermott brought his RZ500 and a GS750ES with a GT550 motor. There was a Grom with a Yamaha Blaster engine. And Mark Haase also brought his 1967 100cc twin Yamaha, which was beautiful. There was only one crash and a few breakdowns. Unfortunately for Ian, he laid his Gamma down and a super moto used it for a ramp and did a fair amount of damage. It's fixable, but it's a Gamma, so it probably won't be inexpensive. Fortunately, neither Ian or the other rider were seriously injured, just banged up a bit. Roger's KH500, my H2, Dean Gaetano's (spelling?) H2, and Jon's GS/GT hybrid were the only breakdowns that took a bike out of service if I remember correctly. Dean's H2 had a rear shock issue that had his fender scraping the tire all the time. My H2 had a rear brake lining come unglued and the back tire locked up occasionally. Jon's kill switch disassembled itself on the bridge in front of Tapoco and it just quit running, so wires have to be resoldered to the contact board inside the switch housing. Roger's KH500 was the worst, though. His engine started making a very bad noise internally. He didn't want to take it apart at the motel, so we just have educated guesses as to what broke. So, all 4 bikes got parked. I figured out the ignition issue I was having on my GT550, so I ran it out to the overlook a couple of times, but didn't ride it much because it's technically not registered. I have all the paperwork and receipts, but it hasn't worked it's way through the Harrisburg bureaucracy yet, so my tag hasn't been reactivated yet...it was off the road for so long, it fell out of the system, so i couldnt renew the registration online. Now that I know it runs well, I'm going to finish it's "restoration" sometime over the next few weeks and it will become my main rider...I really do need to take my H2 off the road and give it a thorough clean and a frame paint. There were several car crashes that plugged up the Dragon a little and one Mustang had its motor oil drained out on the roadway while it was being sling towed away. It did rain all but a few days and Saturday started off with a 4.1 earthquake at 9am. Over the years we've had torrential rain, hail, gale force winds, and now an earthquake LOL. As usual, the DGMR staff was wonderful and helped us have a great meet. Next year's meet is May 17th through May 24th. Hopefully pushing it out a couple of weeks gets us some better weather, warmer temps, and fewer angry mother's. |

Ga and I were in our rental house when the earthquake hit. It was pretty impressive where I was. I heard a loud rumble and the house started shaking. It wasn't enough to knock anything off the shelves, but it was surprising. I heard that the epicenter was near the far end of the Dragon. |

From what I read, the epicenter was near the US129 end of the Foothills Parkway in Happy Valley. They have the Parkway closed until they can inspect a bridge. It was surprising. I was standing in front of the motel saying my goodbyes when it hit. Sounded like some Harleys and then the ground started vibrating. |

Right. The small red circle is the epicenter. The Foothills Pkwy is closed until one of the bridges can be inspected. |

I would like to put my 2 cents in addition to your report Jeff. The 2 most notable bikes of the meet have to be Josh's RZ and Sam's RD. These two young men took the time and effort to build their own bikes for the meet. They are the future and will be here when most of us are gone unfortunately, but with the drive and talent to keep these old bikes going! |

Josh and Sam both did beautiful work on their bikes and guys like them are going to carry on with these old bikes. We may have a couple of new young faces at next years meet. Saturday night, in Winchester, VA I stopped for gas and some food. There were 4 guys on sport bikes hanging out and we started talking. They saw my bikes on the trailer and asked about them. During the conversation 2 of them (brothers) mentioned that they were rebuilding an RD125 that had belonged to a family member. When I told them.about the meet the younger brother said they now have a goal. |
