I have been doing some work to get ready for the Gap. I replaced brakes and tires and did a lot of cleaning. I went to take it for a ride yesterday and the rear tire had no grip and slid out from under me in a turn. :o Fortunately, I was wearing my riding gear. However, I have multiple broken ribs and a severely bruised shoulder. I have not assessed the bike yet, but but I know the shifter is twisted around and left side turn signals are broken off. I was able to ride it home, so I am guessing everything is cosmetic. While repairs on the bike may be easy, my body may not be up to it. I had no idea that the tire would be that slick. I don't think I got any grease or oil on it. I may be left with riding the KE175 at the Gap or the Honda Hawk if I can get the left carb tweeked. Ya know, these ribs seem to hurt a lot more when you are 60 years old. To top that off, I broke my watch! :banghead (Special watch)

I am so sorry this happened.
I hope you heal quick. Bikes can be fixed. I always take a sheet of coarse sandpaper and scrub the mold release stuff off of new tires when they get installed...

Dang Steve! Sorry to hear. New tires have bit many riders including me many moons ago. Glad it wasn't worse. Heal fast!

And always a good time for the lesson of new tires. They do need to be scuffed in. I do a quick rub with carb cleaner to get any mold release off, and then take it easy for a bit. Roughing like Tim does is a good idea also.

Sucks.... yeah we heal slower it seems as we get older. Ribs always painful though -- get well soonest.

Years ago I feel off my bicycle and cracked a few ribs. It was just about the worst 3 weeks of my life. Had to sleep in a chair for the first week. It's painful that's for sure. Hope you recover quickly.

So think the new tires had something to do with it, that's interesting?

BAD thing is, you were hurt, a better thing is, it wasn't worse (but bad all the same), thank heaven.

The bike, don't worry, Kawasaki turn signals used to be an excellent crash bar device, and, it is YOU we are all worried about, the bike is second to that.
