The photo must not be too large... 480x360 or 640x480 is a good size but no larger than 1024x768.
There are a number of image tools out there to resize photos. FastStone Image Viewer is one and free.
http://faststone.org/FSViewerDownload.htm
Or icecream Resizer https://icecreamapps.com/Image-Resizer/
Below are multiple sample photo sizes of: 480, 640, 800, 1024 (pixels) posted using the procedure below.
Note the difference in file sizes (KB)... smaller is better for bandwidth, loading & storage. Larger is better to read text.

Here is how to post pics direct from your computer without a hosting service:
A photo may be added from your computer by selecting in the "Upload Attachment" portion of the new post screen "Choose File".
Select the file from your computer.
Then click "Add the File".
Multiple photos can be shown in the same post by repeating the Choose File process.
Comments will be shown in the photo header.
PHOTOS MUST ALREADY BE SIZED PER ABOVE.

Same way., I just did this from my mobile device. You just to have the file sized under the maximum allowed size.

I used an Android App called Photo and Picture Resizer to resize the girlie bike picture.

Recently discovered that from my iPhone, if I email a pic to myself it will ask me if I want to send small, medium, large or original size photo. Selecting medium, for example, automatically resizes the photo. Then just save it and use that one to upload. No third-party software needed.
