I look forward to the day when someone with easy dyno access does a proper "Chamber Shootout!" with as many known expansion chambers on the same bike/dyno/ I'd love to see the difference between stock, wirges, fbg, fpp, denco, wheelsmith, bassani, tomcat, wtf, nev/leo pipes, allspeed, specII/purplehaze/fbg stamped style, higgspeeds, jollymoto, etc.... |

I was thinking of running a few of those on a dyno a couple years back, Cody, when an owner of a dynamometer offered to run all the chambers I wanted to bring, in exchange for a case of beer. Then I started thinking of things like what if one brand needed a little richer main jet than another? If I didn't stop and optimize the jets for each chamber brand, I might not get "best" readings. And then there was porting and carbs. My H2 at the time had typical "stage I" porting and VM34 carbs. What it some chambers worked best with stock porting and some with different port timing? Posting the results with my engine could be misleading to someone with a different setup. And of course there's the problem of doing multiple dyno runs to optimize jetting and then the "real" runs. Doing that for all the chambers you mentioned could require a hundred total runs! I'm not sure one engine would be guaranteed to make it though that many in the same condition from start to finish, or even at all. I did run two of those you listed a couple times, using my Veypor computer to record dynamometer runs, and learned what I wanted to know about those two designs on my particular engine. Of course I can't share that information, since it could be misleading, and cause the seller of the losing brand to lose business. Well, I will say Denco was not the losing design. |

I know by "seat of the pants" dyno testing that Dencos are the best all around Old School chamber for stock and mildy ported (like the 100HP Denco porting). They might not make as much peak HP as a set of FPP's, but as street chambers, they just plain work. still would be fun to see the numbers though. |

Off topic - but has anyone else had trouble with FPP head pipes hitting the front fender ('72 H2)? I almost went down when I couldn't turn under braking. Wrecked my nice paint...  And I can't tune them for the life of me! Pinging at 1/4 throttle and burbling in the middle (fine up top). |

I have an H2 and FPP's I have not had either problem. |
