Gentlemen, Ive systematicaly replaced most of the 40 year old rubber on my 72 H2. Now my shifter shaft seal is the last to do, and it IS leaking. Anyone know the part number? Ive got nothing. None are selling on Ebay as "shifter shaft seals".

I personally just get a seal kit. Eventually you will use them, and they will be right there.......

Plus, most triple side stand mount bend and the bike leans way far over, and the seal leaks. If you haven't already, stick a 2x4 under it and see if the leak stops.

Just as point of info on some seal numbers.

Some seals, like the one identified above, have a dedicated part number, and, some have one that is only numbers. In the case of the seal above, 12205, we can break this seal size down by that number. 12 would be 12mm's, inner (shaft) diameter, 20 would be 20mm's, overall (housing) diameter, 5 would be 5mm's, the thickness of the seal. This same number system, or a reasonable version, should also be embossed on the seal itself, so ident can be done.

If there is a specialty OEM part number, then, the seal may be either a specific size for that application, and/or have differences in the seal configuration, etc.

Applying this seal as an example, it has the 12 x 20 x 5 dimension, and a positive spring assisted inner seal lip, with ambient pressure (no spring) outer dust lip. This might help to be able to find a different seal from a different manufacturer, that would interchange into one of our applications.

Just FYI for all to consider.
