its a stirling hot air engine they were invented in 1800s and was compareble to steam at the time , the only need a heat source to run ( fire , sun ,etc), they are exceedingly efficient , with modern metals they are a great alternative to internal combustion engines in some uses eg, pumps, generators . I made most of the parts on my lathe as a project , hope fully it is the first of many with improvements as I go |

There were and still are some railroad locomotives working with stirling hot air engine. |
