Hi guys,

Looking for a cylinder stud bolt. This one, on the center upper right, just doesn't look & sound right!
Image

I had a difficult time getting the right [cut out of this pic] jug off-- much banging and heating with more banging, so I probably damaged it..

This is a link to a VIDEO-- you can hear the difference in pitch!

((I couldn't figure out how to embed the video in this post, so the link will take you out to flickr.))

I might be over paranoid, but I'd rather swap it now, then have it snap later! If anyone has an extra sitting around, please let me know.

MANY THANKS!

so it turns out (pun intended) that the stud bolt that sounds different is because it isn't in all the way.

You can see it is a bit mangled, so I want to replace. However, I can't get this thing to budge! what's the trick?? I don't want to break ANOTHER stud bolt!

When heated, aluminum expands faster than the steel stud does, so that helps. Double nutting it at the end and whacking the nuts with a hammer can help break it free from corrosion. Of course penetrating oil can't hurt.

If you go to buy one, ask for a "stud", not a "stud bolt".

Diablo Cycle has sets for $110. Maybe they have a broken set for selling one or two at a time.\

This set of stainless studs with shipping is less than Diablo's set: https://www.ebay.com/itm/172G1075-KAWAS ... Sw~-ZcYDFY

Yeah, I have a new torch stuck in postal limbo, so once that arrives, I'll give heat a go.

Thanks Jim!
