Hi all,

My 1975 H1 restoration is going very well and have been able to source almost everything I need, thanks to advice on this forum and the generosity of individual members.

I still need an exhaust system and a set of original handlebars, reproduction or original. Diablo Cycle is currently out of stock. As an alternative is there another handlebar available in reproduction that has a similar bend?

Thanks!
Tim Castellano

I don't know how different the S2 vs H2 bars were, but I recently purchased a set for an '72 S2 that nearly matched the original rusty bars that were on there. viewtopic.php?f=26&t=14239#p140219

Hello those afflicted with "Kawasaki Disease" like me!

I have found a good set of used repairable set of exhaust pipes for my 1975 H1F on Ebay. They cleaned up nice and even have the right numbers!

They do have some minor dents and road rash and need to be rechromed.

Does any body know of someone who does this kind of repair work and chrome? In California getting used 2 stroke pipes rechromed is a challenge. Most platers don't want oily parts in the plating tanks. Steve in Texas has a guy, but he is a long way from here (thanks Steve!).

So far I have bodywork done by LRC triples (fantastic!) and gauges done by Don Furlang (priceless!) all because of advice from board members
Diablo Cycle has repro H1 handlebars coming soon. Buchanan's is lacing the wheels as of now. etc

Tim

Some chromers will fill the pipes with water and plug the ends, avoiding getting the oil inside into the plating solutions.

Engine rebuilders will, or used to, have a bath of hot caustic soda, or maybe in the US it's known as Potash, to clean, decarbon and degrease the engine blocks before boring etc. Possibly check with one of them, maybe they would dip your pipes.

Yes, when you're calling around asking, ask if they do "hot tanking".

Hi Steve,

It has been a while!

No I pretty much gave up. The bike is for sale at Mecum Monterey next week with the fair condition pipes. If it doesn't sell then I will want to fix all the flaws and try again in the future or keep it.

If so I would definitely be interested in your pipes.

Hi Tim...

Sorry to hear you are putting your bike up for auction, do you mind if I ask why?

I went to Mecum-Houston 2 years ago with a buddy, had a great time! [he bought 4 cars for his collection]

I bet your bike will sell if the reserve is reasonable, I'll be watching! Keep me updated, you have my number.

Thanks
