Does anyone know of forward folding brake and clutch levers for vintage bikes?

My KE fell over while on the bike stand this morning and of course the less than 2 week old Kawasaki brake lever twisted up like a pretzel and snapped when I tried bending it back.

Why do they use such crap metal for levers on motorcycles? I swear my BMX stuff is tons tougher.

They do it so the lever doesn't break all the way off, so you can still ride the bike all the way back home.
