Does anyone sell or know of a suitable replacement for the little sealing washer for the bolts that hold the fork tubes in?

44045-057

Crazy to pay 15 bucks at ebay for a pair.
Ends up around 12-13 bucks using a dealer after postage.

Yeah, they're certainly not critical. A little Permatex #2 under the head would work fine too.

Two ways to do it, first, red fiber washer from a hardware store. Better, copper washer, also from hardware store.

Yeah thats what I used last time.
It just seems like someone could have found a cross ref part by now.

Because as mentioned, it aint a critical working part or anything.

Actually, if you have a punch like a Whitney hand punch, you can make washers like that quickly from roofing copper or old head gaskets, etc.. Punch the small center hole, then put a larger punch and die in and punch the OD. It works on gasket paper too.

I have one of those punches, quite handy for a lot of stuff, so is the hardware store.

If that is a rubber type O Ring, it ain't what should be used to hold the front fork tubes together. The bolt at the bottom of the outer tube should tighten and hold the damper for in place hard, that is why the sealing WASHED should be a hard fiber, steel, aluminum or copper washer, not a collapsible O Ring.

Other sources such as this might do the trick, but double check the diameters Steve to be sure. I've ordered several items from Mike's over the years with satisfactory service and delivery.
