Hello Forum Members,

Anyone have a decent 13231-1001 clutch release they are willing to sell?

Thanks, Ed

I looked it up and found it interesting (never noticed before):

Are all the -010 the nylon inner and all the -1001 metal ones?

Barry, what you show is not totally accurate but the 1001 is the ball bearing release.

OK It looks like I was using the old version of parts.xls. the new one dated Nov 2016 is different, I should have probably downloaded it.

Technically thru Feb '72 a 4 spline asm was used and the asm had no part number... only inner (13102-009) and outer numbers (13118-004) but not combined. The 6 spline asm (13231-010) is the replacement for the superceded 4 spline un-numbered asm.

Ed, I have three that operate smoothly. The ONLY negative is that all three are slightly loose where the lever attaches to the body, where only those two little "flanges" are factory pressed to attach that lever. Apparently over time and use, those flanges tend to loosen up a bit, resulting in some play. I'm certain a tack of weld would completely fix this one issue, or "possibly" a few whacks of the flanges with a hammer and punch would suffice...?

If interested, $55 ea. shipped to your door. I also have a still-new in-the-box release from Ralf Gille (shown in those same pictures) that I'll sell for $130 to your door.

On the loose lever to spiral issue, I have simply used a hammer to re-stake the spiral tabs back tight. I had thought about brazing, or welding them, but, no, the spiral is hardened, and the welding heat would alter the spiral's heat treat. Re-staking has worked for me, no problems.
