I am looking for a reasonably priced Z1 engine that will look good on the outside as a display engine. I don't need the guts. I want to fix it up, put a glass table top on it and give it to a friend of mine for Christmas. Thanks!

You could use a H2 engine for that, but it would STILL leak "splooge" onto the carpet!!

Not sure there is such a thing, GUTS. Maybe a KZ 1000....

I bought a spare Z1 motor a couple years back, paid $400, thought that was a good deal.

I agree with Steve-O at least from a SoCal perspective. You can probably get a junk J motor for a few hundred but a Z motor is up there now. I have one of the first 100 Z1s but it has the wrong motor and trying to get a set of cases with numbers anywhere near my vin is going to cost more than I am prepared to invest. I think the run on prices is one of the factors that has pushed me away from Z1s and Triples to early enduro dirt bikes as they are so cheap to play with.

I guess I wasn't paying attention again, I should have said Z and KZ series or something like that. I don't think the valve cover changed in the first 5 or 6 years so it will look the same as a 1973(or close enough).

That's too good to make a coffee table out of, I could make that baby run easy. If I didn't have 5 900's I would buy that and make a ride like Nitrous Carl is building. :D
