The shape is the same but it's different around the gas cap, it's recessed and the cap is different(it opens from the front). I have one on my 72 H2 and I think it's a factory replacement.

yes there was factory replacement as far as the middle of the 70s
see here and then click on the rectangular on the top in which is written the word body then look on the middle
