I know these big fellas aren't real common, but a fellow I've just purchased a few small Triple parts from is looking for some parts for his 1979 KZ1300 project. I told him I'd post here in the off chance someone here has or knows someone who has spare parts available. Among others, the main items needed are as follows: Cam chain guides, 1979 instrument cluster, 1979 headlight assembly, 1979 gas tank locking cap, ignition switch. Any help would be appreciated as the fellow Bob seems a good guy. Thanks for your time!

There is a web site dedicated to them, I go there from time to time. I have 3 of these bikes, and all have had the cam chain tensioner mods done to them (uses KZ1100GPZ and ZX parts, leaps and bounds better than stock KZ1300 parts), along with water pump mods, dry cell battery, lots of other mods. E-Bay for the instruments and fuel cap, parts are still available for most areas of the bikes from KMC.

1979 and 1980 are basically same, single alternator, separate ignition trigger pod, 1981/1982 have dual alts, with digital ign triggered from left side rotor, 1983 and later would be Voyager here, EFI, lots of differences, but, the best one yet.

Cases differ for different alternator/ignition configurations.

One 1980 I have has a 1984 EFI engine, with 9mm stroker crank, special rods, and 1 - 1/2 850 KZ750/4 big bore kits. Stock KZ1300 bore is same as KZ650/4, different ring package, same compression height. KZ750/4 is a 4mm bore for the 650, 5mm more is the 850 hot rod bore size. 1300 uses free standing wet sleeves, coolant circulates around the sleeve, not the barrel casting, and, they are easy to modify/change sleeve packages. Mega-Cycle cams, KZ750/4 valves will fit easy, give larger size.

Lots more, fun bikes.
