It's unfortunate (and quite obvious) that Dave is having problems with "quality control" (new employee, etc?)
As a small business owner myself, if there is one thing I've learned in the last 15+ years is......
KEEP YOUR CUSTOMERS HAPPY!....or you will lose them AND more importantly you will lose FUTURE BUSINESS.

Word of mouth spreads like wildfire, and bad press spreads 10x's faster than good press. The welds in the photos above are not the same welds I have witnessed on other sets of Higgs pipes. Something most definitely does NOT add up.

Anybody know how old Mr. Higgs is? By the sound of his replies you have to wonder if eyesight or something might be catching up with him. Some people are too proud to admit it sometimes or maybe he really can't tell that there is a problem.

Frankly all of this sucks..
In the past he has put out a quality product and built a reputation as such.
Currently at least 3 customers in the US have received a shoddy unacceptable product.
Recently he was given a chance to address/resolve/redo/save his product/customers/reputation.
Unfortunately he chose to point fingers and do nothing.
I was about to place my order also this spring for a set.
I am very disappointed with Higgspeed!

Higgs pipes are on my must buy list, as far as I know Higgs is the only maker of stainless steel pipes, , I have pm'ed him on the (brit board) higgs pipes are hand made those welds are probly done by hand, no fancy weld machine so they that probly explains the ugly welds (I think),,,,, anyway I not afraid I see much worse welds, when the funds are there I will order and request pretty welds,,,,,

Did you ask Jim if he would make a stainless set?
Thought that was an option from him???

Like I said - I was disappointed with the weld quality but they will work for me. Saying that they are done by hand does not excuse the poor quality. :e4 I have seen many neat welds on stainless sheet metal done by hand. I am guessing that he lost his good welding guy and now has someone new doing the job.

You can get cone kits from Andrew.

And I would ask for close up pics of the welds before shipping to say yea or neigh......

Here are a few pics of my Higgs pipes on the 1974 S3:

I had some fit up issues that have already been discussed. Nothing too difficult. I think they look great and they sound even better! According to the butt dyno, they pull better above 6,000 rpm than the stock pipes.
