How long do you think it will be before you have the H1 kit available? Put me down for one when you have them ready.

Great idea for a kit; wish it was available before I started my collection of Mikuni brass.
Will you offere the custom needles separately?

Still have a kawa KDX dirt bike that is higly modified.
Thanks to a sophisticated tuner on the Dirt Rider's board, many have found tremendous improvements by using different needles. Seems like all the H2 guys (myself included) have been tuning around the stock taper needles.

Am curious as to what imrpvements your needles make assuming the jetting is close.

The jetting is not close if the stock needles are used on either one of these bikes.... all the improvements are listed on my website for the H2.... but I don't mind repeating myself about them here.... :)

H2 improvements are:

Noticeably better full throttle response at any rpm

No more surging

No more pinging (99.9% removed)

You can actually apply the throttle from closed while leaned over in a corner without it wanting to buck you
off into the nearest ditch.

More linear power delivery.

Smoother and less vibration.

Makes the bike a real pleasure to ride as compared to stock.

The H1 impprovements are:

Noticably better response from 3000 rpm and up.... will actually climb a hill in top gear from 4000 rpm.

Leaves a traffic light with a lot less clutch slipping

Better full throttle response from any rpm.... pulls top revs longer.

Smoother and less vibration.

More linear power delivery.

My kits will also work with the common intake mods..... pod filters, and stock airbox with whatever filter you want, snorkel on or off.... pipes too.... even mild porting.

I may possibly offer the needles and needle jets as a combination, but they will never be offered separately.
(need to think about this for a while)

As it stands right now, all my jet kit stuff for all bikes is only available as a kit.

Thanks,

Ivan

Understood

Understanding needle taper is an art form IMO and pulling a Mikuni needle from a Suco list and expecting better performance without experience is usualy a bad proposition. I've seen it work well for some bikes but understand a custom taper (when done properly) is king.

Do consider the sales opportunities though as most of the folks on this board that have had a bike for a while (or installed pods and/or pipes) and probably have had the bowls apart a half dozen times to rejet even with a less than perfect needles.

We got jets; we don't have no stinking needles.

All the needle jets are pretty much worn out as well.... :)

Ivan, do you have any feedback, or personal test data, that gives an idea of mpg with your kits installed?

I know this is variable, but for example, with my H2's current jetting I'm averaging about 28 mpg with typical riding around here, and around 22-24 during the Deal's Gap week. The engine is "stage I", the carbs are VM34, chambers are Denco.

I checked it when I was prototyping the needles and got 40 once.... Those needles were a little leaner at small throttle openings and it would buck & ping a little when you got into traffic.

I would imagine if you took it easy kept it under 5000 (80 mph), 35mpg should be attainable with the kit parts.
(I'm guessing at this).

I should use the bike for a while on an upcoming Sunday and actually test it.....

My H2 has stock exhaust and stock airbox w/K&N.

Thanks for that Ivan. I'll look forward to any other information you come up with.
