Terry,

I'll be glad to help you fire it up if you want to trailer it 90 miles south on I-75. Just thought I'd throw that out there to you..... Looking good!

Just an update. Although it did not fire up due to a faulty CDI it is almost all in one piece.

And on the fateful day I got no love from the CDI

It actually looks OK in the pics but the exhasut is a rusty mess and the paint is shot.
Jim is rebuilding my CDI so hopefully I can take another crack at it this coming weekend.
Wish me luck!

An update and an admission.

Finally got most of the bugs worked out I think. I increased the mains to 102.5 and replaced the awful original throttle cable which was a big improvement. I also fixed another glitch I did not want to admit to anyone. Until now anyway...

The first time I went to start it the kickstarter went down and stayed down. I was so bummed about it I never mentioned it and went ahead and tried to break it in anyway. I had to reach down every time I kicked it bring the starter back up. When it was running it would rotate down and rest on the rear foot peg. Awful and a real pain when I stalled it at a stop light. I watched Ja Moos video about a dozen times wondering where I screwed up. Anyway, while I was waiting for jets and cables I thought I would try to see what went wrong. I pulled the clutch cover off and did not see anything out of sorts. I pulled the clutch basket off and tried to see what was going on in there. I backed out the stopper bolt and took the kickstarter down 150 degrees like the manual says and put the stopper back in. Nothing. I was resigned to splitting the cases and doing it over when I noticed if I cranked down on the kickstarter I could see the cam go up towards the bolt and stop. I had nothing to lose so I backed the bolt back out and took the cam past the stopper bolt and screwed the bolt back in. The kickstarter snapped back where it is supposed to be. It now works as it should. What a relief...

Now I just have a couple of minor bugs. It bogs a bit when first taking off almost like I am trying to start in 2nd. Also the front end seems to bounce up and down. But at least I can start it

Hey Gang, I have been working on some other projects but finally dropped off the H1 body parts for paint a few months ago. My painter is slow but is finally starting to show some progress.

Hope to have the inner red done this week. Hard to tell from the pics but the candy paint looks killer. I can't wait to get it out in the sunlight.

I have an update on my paint. It is not a happy story...

The painter had a lot of trouble when he went to do the rest of the paint. He ended up shooting the tank twice (which meant another set of graphics) and handed it off to me. I noticed there was a small section where it looked like the paint had wrinkled. I thought he had put the clear on a little thick and it would smooth out with some color canding. I was busy with another project so I put it away for a couple of weeks...

This is what I found when I went to put it all together:
Image

That little wrinkle turned into wrinkles all over the paint. So... I took it back to him and he siad he would figure out what went wrong and make it right. After a month or so I went back and found the painter had disapeared. I was able to get all my HOK paint and the tank but still need a painter.

So. Does anyone know someone who would be willing to paint this tank for me? I would like to find someone local (GA) who can use the materials I already paid for. I would prefer someone who has experience painting H1s and candy paint. The tins he painted came out great -no issues. I have no further use for this paint beyond maybe painting my KZ400 so I would be willing to give the the rest of the paint to someone who can use it. There's probably enough to do another ten sets.

I've been so depressed about the paint I shoved the H1 in a corner for the last six months but I would really like to get this project completed.

Thanks,
Jim

looks like he didn't let the paint under the decals dry long enough before putting them on :( I usually wait two weeks.
