I bought this H1 in fall 2012 knowing it had some problems. Finally got it repaired, upgraded and running yesterday.

The problems were a cracked crankcase, bad transmission and too-long clutch tabs. This bike has an H2 motor and it had H1 pipes which were replaced with this set of Higgspeeds for an H2. The motor was running premix, now it has an oil pump with new oil lines courtesy of Crabby Steve and Darth.

First kicks the bike wouldn't turn over at all. After wearing myself out I pulled a gas line then realized an H1 tank needs more fuel than other tanks because of the location of the petcock underneath. It's not at the lowest point in the tank.

I have another set of bodywork painted by Paul Miller, it's either '73 or '74 I forget. The new bodywork will go on the bike soon.

If anyone is interested in the set in this picture let me know. The tank decal is higher than it should be. This bodywork is in good shape.

Very nice - love the pipes...out of curiosity - what breed of dog is that (sorry I have "lack of focus" issues  )

Looks good mike, well except those decals of course.

So, the H2 motor is a direct fit? Or needed mod??

At least the tank decals were placed symmetrically - yeah too bad they're probably 3 inches higher than they should be. Once I have the kinks ironed out I'll put the new bodywork on and retire this set.

Steve-o the bike had an H2 motor when I bought it. The motor mounts look like there's been some welding done. I don't know if the mounts were repaired or fabbed to fit the H2 motor.

I've put 20 miles on it so far. It's loud and angry! I opened the throttle a little too quick and it popped a wheelie easily. I thought Higgspeed pipes would be quiet. This set isn't. You can hear me coming from far away.

Don't know if it's relevant, but H2's had bolt on front engine mounts, and H1's had weld on mounts........ at least the earlier models!

It's relevant to me because this is my first H1. Thanks Rod!

And it's out of order! After several good rides and about 50 miles, suddenly the transmission is acting up. Splitting of cases to be done soon.
