Daddy's 1976 F750 Ford dump truck. 68 K actual miles. I named it Rusty after Early Cuyler's son on Squidbillies and for it's unique appearence. I decided a ressurection was in order after paying $600 for 16 ton of stone delivered from the quarry 3 miles from the house. Stone is cheap, $10 a ton. Truck had been setting in the spot Daddy parked it in for 12 years. #1 son Jesse and me dropped the saddle tank and poured out the old gas as the drain was corroded horribly. I spent a couple weekends and used 2 cans of PB Blaster freeing up the doors, hood hinges, power take off, dump linkage, throttle and choke cables. . The motor is a 361 with a Holley 4 barrel, 5 speed transmission with a 2 speed rear. The dump is a 4.5 cubic yard which equates to around 7 ton if myconversion is right. We put 5 gallons of 93 UNL in it and I shot some ether in the holley and she fired right up.after a few minutes of a large volume of very stanky smoke she runs like a clock. Jesse and me rode around the field in it and fun was had by all. Master cylinder was empty, took almost a quart to fill it up. I pumped the brakes and after about 20 pumps she had a good pedal till the booster put full pressure on the system. Right front brake line was subsequently replaced and everything works now except the charging system. I beat on the ancient FOMOCO regulator attempting to free the points to no avail. I will change it first, then the alternator if needed. everything works, including the high end AM factory radio.

Wow, that's the worst I've ever heard of. I guess you're now considered to be in the DC area, congratulations! I can get 18 tons of crushed rock delivered here for around $250, which is maybe $75 over my quarry price, and I'm probably at least 25 miles from that quarry. Good for you to get the truck running.

Thanks Jim and Cody. Yeah I am lucky I dont have to license it. I just have to register and insure it as a farm vehicle. One time registration and no inspection required since it isn't tagged. ( It has to be in compliance if checked though). Buy a couple red and white farm use tags at the Co-Op and Bob's your uncle. I hope to fix the charging system this break from work. I already bought the oil and filter so I can service it. Right rear outside tire is dry rotted but I have a pile of 1000-20s already mounted on wheels....

Wonder what would happen if a new 2015 truck had been through the same.
Would it have rusted but still started in 2053 with the same amount of work?
