I feel like I'm there with my blue 2014 Ninja 1000 with Michelin Pilot Power 3 tires. The handling and stopping are so good that I somewhat feel that I'm just along for the ride, and the bike is on auto-pilot. I'm beginning to ride the heck out of it like I did my H2 when I was 35. Just have to consider the cops and cars, but its hard to care.

I know there are other wonderful bikes out there, and all kinds of great fun is available. I feel grateful for all of the hard work by riders, tuners, engineers, and business people who collectively have produced the modern bike.

I hope to get a ZX-14R for my next bike, and then, maybe, with the best of luck, and in the distant future, a Ninja H2 street bike.

Just a few final comments: the Ninja 1000 needs a shift light because I'm always bouncing off the rev limiter, because I think I should watch the road, not the tach. The first gear governor (80 % power) needs to be removed by a computer re-flash. Its there so the bike will pass the EPA noise test in first gear. And, finally, the handling of the Ninja has taught me that I need to drop the large tires on my H2, and go back to whatever is closest to the old K 81Rs.

Just an update. Here in over populous South Florida my routine motorcycle fun world consists to a large degree of 0-105 mph full throttle runs, gobbling cars on a slightly too busy highway. Its great fun for sure. Of course I do feel badly about offending car guys with their 400 hp BMWs, Cadillacs, etc. I also have found out unintentionally that my bike will do short-lived third gear power wheelies. This happens even when leaning forwards and down as much as possible. Shifting quickly at peak power rpm (about 9500) from second to third will do it. Also, backing off on the throttle at about 9000 in third and hitting it full will do it.

On another tack, the other day I came across two great bikes in a parking lot, with their owners absent. They both had Canadian plates, and I would expect that they were trailered down here because of all of the bad weather in the north. They were a red and white Ducati Panigale and a black Aprilla RSV- 4. I parked my bike next to them and looked them over for awhile. They were lower and shorter than the Ninja 1000. Maybe 70, and 40 pounds lighter, respectively. They were beautiful, but didn't look all that comfortable. I couldn't help but admire their riders for their good taste, and hopefully, riding ability. I was just a little jealous thinking about how badly they would smoke my bike, but it was really a happy thing as I thought about how my next bike was going to be a total rocket like them.
