People on the SOHC Honda site have been using them for years with no issues. An example: http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=89779.0 Rol prepares a race Honda CBX (The Beast). He installed a set & has been very impressed: http://www.cbxworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=130302&highlight=cruizinimage#130302 Trevor |

One of the things I see a lot of causing piston failure, is clearances way, way too big, allowing the pistons to slop around and beat themselves to death. I have never run an H series engine with any more than .0015 inch clearances, not even cast piston the H2R's. The reason the factory went to cast pistons for those engines, over the forged, was the forge4d pistons collapsed easily, and had to be clearanced .003 right out of the box. After a break in lap or two, it was possible to get skirt clearances as much as .012, way, way too big. the factory cast pistons were much, much more stabile, and did not require giant clearance settings. |
