Down to just two bikes in the garage, my H2 and Barb's 89 FZR400. I like the Kawasaki ZXR1100-1200's and the one year only in the US 93 ZR1100. There was a clean ZR1100 on ebay that I was tempted to bid on but never seen one in person. Lots of ZRX's around here and they look like a good solid bike. Anyone here rode a ZR1100 and a ZRX1100-1200 and can give some advice? |

ZRX's are great! I've had two and there are only two reasons I haven't kept one. The first reason is size. ZRX's are big, I'm on my tippy toes at the stop light and I feel like it would be easy to slip and have the bike go on its side. The other reason is power. They are too fast - no joke. On an older bike like a triple, 70 mph feels fast. On a ZRX, 70 mph feels like 40 mph. Since you're busy working on Z1's, why not pickup a Z1, KZ900 or KZ1000? Low maintenance, decent power and it's easy to get a decent runner for a low price. |

I'm 6'4" Mike, need a big bike. May even buy another Ducati, but this time a Monster SR4. Turn 56 in a few weeks and a 996 is to cramped for me these days. |

ZRX is going to be cramped if you're 6'4. When I had mine, I did the Buell 1" lowering-peg mod and it was well worth the $50.00. Other than that, one of the best bang for the buck motorcycles EVER. There is a ZRX1100 on craigslist locally that I have been looking at for $2gs...... but I must resist as the barn needs a roof. |

Fair bit of information around to suggest the 1200 is a worthwhile improvement on the 1100, re ZRX! |

I was very close to pulling the trigger on a ZRX as I want a cool looking, upright, 4-stroke bike that is quiet and makes 90+ horsepower. The 1100's are plentiful around me in the $3K - 3.5K range with low miles, adult owners, and meet all the above criteria. Most have aftermarket pipes too. The problem is that with a 1/2 gallon of gas and an aftermarket pipe, these bikes weigh about 515 lbs. What is newish, $4K or less, that has an upright riding position, some basic retro looks, 90+ horsepower, and 450 lbs or less? |

I love my ZRX, and my only complaint with it, as mentioned, is it is heavy. With a full Muzzy system and an Ivan's jet kit it's 125 RWHP now. ![]() |

I think a '77-'78 KZ1000 with a big bore kit, maybe cams and some Keihin CR29's or Mikuni smoothbore 29's would make you smile. |

I have a ZRX 1100, my oldest son as a ZRX 1100 with ZX11 cams and my youngest son has a ZRX 1200. My bike has an Ivan's jet kit and a Muzzy/Kerker hybrid exhaust. Joe II's has a Muzzy exhaust and the cams. David's has an Ivan's kit and a Yosh can. They can stand little more leg room therefore I added foam to the seat. 55 mph roll on the 1200 just kills the 1100s, first gear up on the pipe my 1100 will out run the 1200, but the cammed 1100 just walks away if you let him get reved up. This is per one week ago, with a father and 2 sons acting like hooligans. One of the best looking bikes made in the last 30 years. Great bikes, I would buy another, and the good news is they have very poor resale value so you can buy them right. |

ZRX is an excellent all around bike, and an amazing value used, I picked up a 99 last November with 16k miles with full Muzzy exhaust for 2k in perfect shape, shake my head every time I ride it can't believe how much bike it is for so little money. |
