I'm getting ready to restore a Z1 and need to find a good forum. Don't know much about
the motors and it's time to learn.

I think the KOG kawasaki owners group has a sub category of Z1 stuff.

If its a very early Z1 then this site is where the "anoraks" congregate. They really know their stuff.

I have a September '72 Z1 so I tend to lurk around there but KZrider forum is full of practical advice. If your Z1 is one of the first few thousand and missing some of the original parts prepare to be horrified by the price of the parts. That said, there is a huge selection of repro parts available. Z1 Parts.net is good value.

I haven't bought one yet but I like the paint scheme on the 75. 73's are way out of my prize range. I need a everyday
bike and my 72 H2 just isn't something I would want to ride everyday. I have a customer Z1 coming in for a full
restoration and I'm looking forward to learning the motor. I had a 81 CB900F that I rebuilt so it's not my first
4 stroke. I remember when the Z1 came out and how fast it was at out local drag strip.

Shane (retro 3) would probably know. He restored one.

Z1's are way easier to own than a triple, stone simple to work on, very robust, and parts are easier to get. I just restored a '76 KZ900 for a friend, way easier to restore than the 4 triples I did.
