If you wanna see a jet, watch a General electric lm1500 on natural gas in a test cell :) the static electricity flows around it like a storm.

But a JT9D7R4 coughing at max power is like holy crap :D

And you can only begin to wonder what the are up to Now  . . I am still shocked that "Concorde" was never replaced, a flawless career, built in 1966 ??? - Surely, 50 years on we can build a modern fuel efficient fast version :banghead

Rick, no one wants to pay the price for FUEL at that speed the Concorde ate fuel at 75000 lbs an hour.....do the math

Even with engine growth control, atmosphere costs fuel lol

(on a good day, jet fuel is 6.7 lbs per gallon)

Concorde. I was one of the fortunate to watch it take off any day I liked. Most residents hated the noise. I loved that we could hear it routinely. The typical sightings for me, were during or after surfing on Long Island. It left JFK airport at 9:00 am. It had an unmistakable roar. The last part of the excitement was when it flew out of sight. If you waited around for a minute or two, as it moved far enough over the ocean and increased it's speed, you could hear the boom as it went supersonic. Near 10 grand for a round trip, the flight was an experience I would never personally have. Bucket list item never to be checked off. YouTube it. Plenty of videos if you have never seen the plane or the "Concorde's Last Flight" special on television. An incredible bird that will never fly again.

My GF's Dad worked for Lockheed for 40 years, most of it at the Skunk works. Needless to say, he was an aircraft lover. He got to fly on the Concorde. Totally cool!
