Florida cured me of hating winters. I used to daydream in the swealtering oppressive heat that I was in Colorado. After 15 years of slow boil in the crock pot I moved to Barry's country for a ski season. Now I'm back in the moderate climate zone. Skiing takes the edge off of winter blues and there is something unmistakable about the changing seasons. 2 months in Florida after Christmas would be the bomb. Just sayin I think it's normal to start bitchin about weather the older we get, always something to do when kids in the winter. Lots of fun, but just becomes a pain in the ass when an older worker bee. Can't get around the two wheel down time though. I'm working on that with my push button bike, heated grips and vest but below 40 I surrender my bike to the garage but I've extended the riding season with the electrics. Added bonus is that the roads are empty at big ride areas such as deals gap, a few hard core full suit riders and wingers. I just got back from Deals gap last weekend and it was great. They actually keep the roads clean from sticks, twigs and leaves in the fall. It's very nice without all the hub bub. Down time is for building and dreamin of two stroke smoke blowing through all the new spring foilage chokin little birdies in their nests as they woof down worms. |

Good for you, Barry. I took my daughter for a 25 mile ride yesterday while it was in the mid 50s and we enjoyed it. We did a couple errands in town and then took the long way home. We did have a colder than normal November, however. |

Hey eat a bag of .... oh never mind..... I dont mind Winter at all really. No one likes to feel cold, but hey, the great different seasons is why I live where I do. Florida???? You can keep that overblown Long Island replica as far as Im concerned. I grew up on a 120 mile sand bar, I have no interest in FL at all, never have. Other than the fact I like to travel and see places I havent before. I have a lot of relatives who moved there from NY. They all bitch about the heat all the time. ![]() I would prefer the chilly nights on a different island off the Northern coast of Nova Scotia myself. Swim in the Summer like normal people. Sled in the Winter. JMHfO You beat me to it Jack.... LOL |

I guess weather and seasons are relative to each of us. Seriously there are so many factors about where we live and not just riding seasons. I don't there there is any such thing as a "perfect place". I lived in the Bay Area for 40 years. It was great when I was younger but turned into something terrible as I grew older. Northern California is wet and cold (and crowded). Love driving up the coast but prepare for fog, rain and cold most of the year. SoCal is nice but again crowded. North, North/East has great seasons but winter stays to long for me. Florida is nice but I think too flat - I like the mountain challenges. That brings me to Colorado - specifically what is called "southern colorado" of which "the springs" is part of. Short and mild winters but it does get cold when the sun goes down. I will say my garage gets cold and that means everything is cold too - tools, bikes etc. I have a decent propane heater but it sure eats the gas and my three garage doors are old wood roll-ups that leak a lot of heat. The rest of the garage is insulated so someday when the doors are replaced it'll retain more heat. Finally have the H2 on the lift - pulling the cyls soon for some Keensert (now called Keysert) on the exhaust stud holes. |
