Last night at approximately 2315 on I-66 on the way home running 80 in the right lane I saw a flash of movement out of the corner of my eye and got off the throttle. The biggest (insert appropriate expletetive, I choose the one that begins with F) black bear I have ever seen stretched out, running as hard as he could go across the road in front of me. I steered left hard and missed him by less than 2 feet. He was so close I could see his open mouth and BIG teeth reflecting in the light from the headlight. 1/2 a second either way and you all would be writing my eulogy. It scared the living shite out of me, had some trouble falling asleep. No doubt God was watching over me last night...
Happy to be here to tell the tale....

Wow, that is pretty scary! The worst part of hitting a deer is just hitting the deer...
I wonder how a bear would react after a hit from a bike, fight or flight?

I don't want to know... Preflighted the HD, and had a chat with God. Leaving for work shortly...

Tim, I'm glad you're still with us! Maybe consider dropping it to 75 when riding at night, next to woods where anything could run out in front of you.

I actually thought about dear while blasting through a wooded area last night in the dark.
Very glad things worked out for you.

Glad you are ok, if I lived in big animal country, I would be in a cage for night driving.......

I usually drive, but have 2 cars broke down and my GMC gets 17 MPG. I ride once in a while for fun.
