The Black Forest fire (just a few miles north of us) is raging, just like it was almost exactly a year ago. No containment 9500 acres+, 100+ homes lost - thousands evacuated. We have friends who are evacuated coming to stay with us (and they have 4 dogs).... Hope my 22lb cat does not kill the poodle.

Last year a family we did not know who was on vacation let Liz and I and our 2 dogs and 2 cats stay at their house. A friend was house-sitting and called them in Europe and they said of course we could stay. We were there almost 2 weeks before we could get back into our own home.

I thank the wonderful community here in Colorado Springs.

I'm glad you guys are OK for now, Barry. I saw some stuff on the news this morning about Colorado Springs, and thought "Oh no, not again." Is the fire expected to stay away from your house, or is that not known yet?

Thanks Mark & Jim. We're fine - there's nothing left to burn near us - they stopped the fire right on our backyard - literally backyard. They knocked down our fence and made a stand....

This fire is just a few miles north of our house in Black Forest but the evacuation area is wide because of how fast the fire has grown and shifts...

Crazy stuff. Good thoughts going out to those affected.

I echo that...

I fought fire in my small community for nearly 32 years, never seen anything like what you guys get.
