A friends 1965 Corvair 110. Horizontally opposed six cylinder. 110 Hp. 163 cu in. (2.6 L) It's dang near perfect. All original except the paint and upholestry. He bought it from the original owner who had kept it as new as possible. Always garage kept. Low mileage, I forget but it's something around 40k (?) Strangley, the transmisson doesn't have P (park); just a serious emergency brake. Just thought ya'll like to see it..... ![]() |

Last I remembered, Hurley Wilvert had a couple of them, and was in a Corvair Club. His are/were all stock, flat 6 air cooled, and not the butchered up 4.3 V6 n the back. The original engines had a couple of problems, as I remember, rods were made of silly putty, and didn't interchange with anything else. No H beam rods back then. Air fan bearings were not as good as they should have been, they seized and stopped the fan, melting the engine right down. I'd sure like to see a liquid cooled, supercharged, EFI engine for that, flat 6, 5 speed, what a fun deal that would be. Turbo engines needed EFI, single carb was always a pain, but a full on gas to drive when you got the carb right. That is a really nice looking 'Vair! |

That's a NICE one! ![]() I had a 65 2 door, 110 w/4 speed, it was a rust bucket. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() With less than $200 in it I had good tires, brakes, all lights worked and it passed inspection and was officially on the road! I drove it for over a year before selling it to a collector for a tidy profit. ![]() I learned a few things from this car: 1) The 65 and later, with the improved suspension, were great handling cars! It almost felt like it leaned INTO the turns! ![]() 2) You could NOT get this thing stuck! I drove it through a freshly plowed field and it just rolled (ok, there was a little bouncing involved ![]() ![]() 3) If I EVER had a V8 with a stick shift, I would end up dead, wrapped around a tree or lose my license for life! I still have "too much fun" driving anything with a stick. ![]() |

I damned near bought One at an auction in Traverse City last year, a super nice car, but a sort of pi$$y yellow colour, but it stalled at $2,800 and a pal bid $2,900 and got it, I didn't want to bid against him ![]() |
