Okay, I bought a little project bike to tinker with this summer. It turns over and has great compression. I've taken the carb apart and cleaned it. It was already very clean! The odometer reads 730, but I'm sceptical. The chrome, wheels and breaks look great though.

The only thing missing is the fuel tank. It's near impossible to find one locally. Online I'm looking at around $200. Thats about what I paid for the bike. Does anyone know if there are compatable years/models that would fit the bike?

did anyone tell you we like to see pics on this board? ;) where's the dart vader pic when you need it.

That tank Barry found.....looks decent from the outside and looks to need a good chain or handful of gravel in it to knock most of that out.

Thanks Barry.

I dont have the photobucket yet. Is there another way to post? I have plenty of pictures! I take them so that I can remember in what order the parts go back together.

I ordered an air cleaner yesterday. It's a Uni. Nothing fancy. When I get it I intend to start the engine using a gas can. Still don't know if it runs!

Any thoughts on the best way to clean the muffler? It looks pretty greasy at the end.

for a tempory tank i used a lawn mower tank cable tied to the frame (just for fiddling to get it running).
good luck.

Mr. Anagram (love it  ) Photobucket or such is best for most people. I own my own hosting site and don't use them. No rush - but we DO love pictures here :e16

Like John and Mark say above - use anything that works for a temporary tank - heck we could start a whole thread on temporary gas tanks used

Is this what you want? Nice shape and spotless inside. Tiny dings that are circled.

PM me if you want it and I'll sell it to you for something under $200. :)

WOW!
Will that fit my '75? It doesn't look tapered like the stock tank.
Sure is shiney!
