Great job, I would have crashed into a wall with in the first 15 sec.

So what does it cost to get a low-end plane that can fly for a few minutes, that a guy could learn with?

For just over $100 bucks you can buy a small park flyer that is easy to fly but has full controlls. Beware of the Chinese junk. Spend the extra money and get something decent. Brand names Parkzone, and Eflite to name a couple.

Thanks, I'll take a look. Any advice about specific models would be appreciated. Can the $100 ones sustain a vertical climb like your son was doing? That trick would be nice around here, since it would be hard to set up a runway, but there are rough fields nearby.

I enjoyed the video a lot. Clearly your son has the skill that comes with natural talent combined with many hours of practice.

My sons plane is on the highperformance end but is stock and was only $140. That doesnt include the transmiter though. The basic flyers dont have the performance but offer more stable flight performance. Two planes that I am familiar with are the Parkzone Cub and Champ. We actually have a champ and I have also flown the cub both are good stable planes (for their size) and are very durable and can also be flown in a light breeze. If you have access to a large indoor structure the Vapor is a great plane. Almost anyone can fly this thing indoors the first time, it flies very slow 3-5 mph but wont handle a breeze outside. I hope this has been helpfull and I intend on bringing a plane or two to the gap so you will be able to check them out !

Jim the Champ is a great flying little plane. It flys very scale like for such a small plane and only weighs about 1.5 ounces. I have been told that you can pick one up now for under 1oo bucks and that comes with a controller just add batteries a great buy. !

LOL Where do you think Parkzone and Eflite are made? (Parkzone is a great company)

It's $90 in my link above, and a battery comes with the package.
