2700 PSI will make shite break when it hydrolocks.

I had been working on a friends truck yesterday and the lift acted funny when we raised it up the last time. We got the truck off of the lift and I was running it up and down to see if something mechanical like a cable or something was messed up. At about 3/4 travel unladen, the pump lugged down like a heavy load was on it. I reached to shut down the pump and the line exploded out of the side of the cylinder and the cylinder ejected from its' mount out into the floor with considerable force. Thank God I wasn't beside it and the safety catches held the lift arms. 3/8 inch schedule 80 pipe pulled all the threads out of the cylinder. New cylinder is on the way from Western Lifts in Cali to the tune of $536 shipped and that is with the farmer discount... I paid $450 for the lift in 04 ( it came off Maxwell AFB) and it is 5 grand new according to Western. They still make every piece for it and it is an 89 model 7000 pound capacity. I have picked up a ot of cars and trucks with it so I don't feel bad about it. Dude at Western said it failed internally and vent system malfunctioned most likely. Western is the manufacturer and dude said it is made in the USA, so hopefully in a few days I will be back in comission as I am too old to be crawling around under cars and trucks anymore. I am very thankful no one was hurt.
