So I buy and sell bikes for fun, sportsters have been the flavor of the week. My friend hooked me up with a 25 year Veteran of a local bad guy gang that builds harleys and happens to have a ton of parts for my projects. That's the back story..... So I take off today for some hardware for the sporty and stop at a local Harley shop to dig thru their spares and run into my co worker. He is getting ready to dump 6000 into his dresser which is already pretty badass. The funny part is he is wearing a three piece rocker/colors just like a legit MC just with our local union crap etc on it. Were talkin exactly like sons of anarchy patches. I thnk it's kinda ridiculous but he is a good friend so I keep my feelings to myself. We left the Harley shop together and Im hauling ass on a 1200 sportster, he's on the dresser so were not staying close. At the light he says a dude Was trying to pull him over and start something. I didn't think anything about it because I'm used to being hassled because all my bikes are loud etc. Fast forward I'm talking to my biker buddy ( the Vagos dude), and he's telling me about trying to stop a dude wearing a three piece rocker without "permission" . Lol. I guess the moral of the story besides the randomness, is if you want to look like like trouble be prepared for trouble. Apparently you can't just start a new MC without major headaches from the existing bad guys. |

I have been involved with several area clubs over the last 25 years, never a problem. Recently after going to several local events and what used to be 4-5 clubs is now double that. Anyway when I decided to start a local loose nit vintage club (Eastern Carolina Vintage and Classic MC) I was asked if I was going to use the "MC" (Motorcycle Club) and I asked ya why ? I was told that I would have to ask permission from the other local clubs to have an "MC". Thats the biggest bunch of BS I have ever heard. Needless to say I didnt ask anyones permission and started the club anyway. We dont wear any "colors" and I personally could care less about weather or not a bunch of Harley riders wear colors or not. They do their thing and I do mine live and let live ![]() ![]() |

To my understanding, you "can't" wear three patches. It's an HA thing. You also can't put "California" or whatever state on the back of your vest either. They have rules that I guess everyone is supposed to know or something. The only thing you can see on the back of my leathers is SPIDI. |

Wife and I were headed to the mall awhile back, 4 bikers passed us and they were wearing HA jackets that looked brand new. What was weird was that they were all wearing fullface helmets and this is in a state where you don't have to even wear a helmet.I guess I was disappointed, they did not look like the stereotype biker gang. Found out later that they have a clubhouse in an old quonset hut that is near the mall. I never see anybody there though. |

For a while in Oakland, there was a big war between the Oakland HA and the San Jose Mongols. It was pretty ugly with car bombs and everything. |

A 3 patch club need permision from the local presidents coalision to exist in their town. You also have to be mindful where your going with your colors on.If your traveling through a town where the governing club isn't frendly with the governing club from your town guys will take their colors off rather than have a hassle. As for the full face helmet thing it makes them harder to id.The local ha has been doing this for a long time. |

Talk about looking for trouble ![]() A small group of Hells Angels came into a H-D shop I worked at they looked and bought parts and left , I was kinda impressed by the mystique of the HA history but with out the jacket they looked and acted like most other H-D riders, however they are 1% and there is a difference..... |

If I recall the correctly the 1% was started by an one of the Jap maker's that only 1% of "bikers" or motorcylists were "bad guys" so the hard core bikers and bike clubs took this on as a merit of pride "being a 1% er " Funny though I dont thing that the real "1%ers" actually call themselfs that. |
