Totally agree with the author's position.
I bought some nut drivers and one fell of the bench and exploded like glass.
OTOH the bandsaw is really good for a cheapy and my air cut off saw was something like $9 and works great although inefficient with air.

I have been shopping HF for years. I have to say the impact sockets are exceptional. The snap ring pliers on the other hand….ehh, I thought they were made of lead or the like. It was comical when I tried to use them. I actually straightened the tip back into position by hand!
I did buy a drywall lift to do my ceiling. Big mistake! When that cable snapped and I was under the sheet of drywall, I am glad I was hit on the shoulder and not directly on the head. Not by the drywall but by the lift mechanism. HF is my starting point for a tool rarely used. If I use it once or twice and it breaks, then I replace it with an OTC or similar. As far as measuring tools, I stay very clear from HF. Especially torque wrenches and dial indicators. Just my $.02.

Well we all want good value (cheap) stuff BUT we all want a decent wage, so China and the like fill the gap and that's why they are taking over the world bit by bit, I have just got two solid oak sideboards and table made in Poland and made very well £1180, a guy in the UK triples club is a cabinet maker and could make me one sideboard at mates rates for £1000, now that would be a one off bespoke piece that would no doubt be better in every way but i don't have £4000 for two sideboards and a table and if i did I could not spend that sort of cash on one room, so cheap labour wins again, now I'm pissed because my best mate cant find work and Im one of the people adding to the problem

It's hard to fathom that something could be made and shipped from China, then be marked up for resale and still be dirt cheap. They must work for free. Walmart has built an empire on Chinese exports. I really like bargains, but as an American, union worker, there is a lot to think about. That said, I love Harbor Freight. :wtf:

Carl, if the uk guy will have made your sideboards and table, 50 years later they will still in live but not sure it will be the case for your polish stuffs.
Always quality against (cheap rice) price

Right there with you Carl.
I was always a buy American guy but can't afford to be on many items right now.
Five years ago I would have bet that I would never be driving a car made in Korea, but so far the Hyundai is great.
I think that the Poles and Czechs make great stuff.
Remember back in the 60's when people would never buy things made in Japan?
I can't remember what their quality was like back then but it certainly became great although some has become unaffordable.
I have seen very few quality items come out of China with the exception of some electronics gear.

As long as the Poles buy as much British stuff as the Brits buy Pole stuff, then you're working together. It's when it gets unbalanced that you get into trouble. I have a feeling the US buys more Chinese stuff than China buys US stuff. :(

They don't have to buy any of our stuff. They copy it and keep the change!
