Post subject: | Opinions on my next bike |
I just recently sold My Honda GB500 after owning it for over 5 years. After reading this months motorcycle classics mag, I'm kind of interested in a Kawasaki GPZ550.I had a friend who bought one brand new back in the day and I loved riding it.Any thoughts on the GPZ or any other bike in the 500/550 range ? Doesn't have to be a speed demon as I just want to ride it on country/mountain roads. Also, what's a fair price to pay for a clean used GPZ ? Thanks in advance. Buddy |

I've never owned one -- but I like them. If I were you, I would consider the 750. It won't cost much more and it comes with 80-90 HP which you always have whether you need it or not! http://ontario.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicle ... Z425702996 |

Its a pity you are not over here! A friend of mine is selling this. http://z1ownersclub.co.uk/forum/viewtop ... 39&start=0 Its very nice but sadly these bikes have little or no following over here. |

Wow, those are both nice bikes. Prices seem cheap also. I may have to consider the 750 as it may be easier to find. |

My step brother has a early GPz550 and it is an incredible motorcycle. Fun, plenty of power (for a 550), handles pretty darn good and it is as reliable as an anvil. Great machines, and mark my words - one that will appreciate in value over time. |

I have owned several GPZ's and sold/worked on quite a few more. The 550's are awesome bikes, smooth, powerful for their displacement, very competent, fun bikes to ride and own. The 750's are the same, just more of it, 1100's, a little different story. Personally, I like the dual shock models, the '81 550 and the '82 750, both that rate very high on my list of all time favorite bikes. |

That's kind of where I'm leaning, the dual shock model. It looks more old school to me. This month's cover of Motorcycle Classics magazine has the 81 550 on the cover. It's a stunning bike to look at . |

My brother still has his '85 GPz550, has 15K or so on it and he still loves it. He bought it brand new. When I went with him to check it out (back in '85), I spied a '82 GPz750. I wish I would have never sold it. Great bike that I had a lot of fun on. My only complaint, the goofy 85 mph speedometer. Second gear at redline was 78 mph and you still had three gears left ![]() Jeff |

![]() I read that cover to cover a few times before it went on eBay.... The crash bars should of been black IMO, and I also prefer the black header. Chrome Kerker was one of the accessories offered. Looking for more pictures..... |
