Has anyone noticed that the ebay bidding is way down ? (bids and dollar amounts). Obviously the riding season is over for most of the country but prices on vintage bikes have dropped dramatically, except for the high end collectable bikes. I haven't noticed such a dramatic difference in the past maybe I am missing something.

I have been looking and my observation is ebay is not what it used to be. Look for say, H2 or Z1 parts and mostly what you see is a handful of vendors with nice NOS stuff that they want big money for in a buy it now format. I have sold a lot on ebay, my feedback rating is over 4900, I have sold a lot of parts for triples, many of you on this board have bought from me. Back in the "golden days" of ebay, I would list a major item like a NOS H2 stator for a low start bid and even got to the point of not using a reserve as the buyers would establish what it was worth. And almost always, I did very well, without asking outlandish prices. I still have some stuff to sell, but I am very disappointed with the direction ebay has gone. The powers that be at ebay want to get away from bidding and become another Amazon.com, it seems to me. And it is a damn shame. |

Ain't that the truth. Nothing like having to sift thru 50 of the same anodized tire valve caps Just to find the 400 dollar buy it now single H2 cylinder. Lame. |

I'm on ebay every day and the good buys are becoming very hard to come buy. I did score a nice drilled rotor for the H2 last week for $23.59 plus 12 for shipping. Last year I bought a 81 CB900F for $850 and the bike was far better than expected. For triple parts I usually buy from just a few sellers and sometimes I search for 6 months for a part at a good price. I listed one of my FZR400's and the bidding was very slow, so it's still in the garage. It's really hit or miss with ebay lately, and the fees just seem to climb. |

That's exactly what I have always done and it still continues today,whilst people will always have outrageous B.I.N. prices and often sell at that price, it does leave a bitter tatse in my mouth that they are purely in it for the money, I like the excitement of starting low and seeing what things go for, one week an item will do $200 and the very same item a Month later will do $30! Very much swings and roundabouts but at least it is a little fairer. |

I'm a small fish in a big pond. Right now I'm on the downside of the bell curve with my current partner, and gearing up for the next. Overall, it seems the "hot" items still bring big money. I had a couple of surprises over the weekend, thank goodness. Historically it seems election years cause some fluctuation in sales, maybe that is just an excuse I've heard over the years. Good information

'Cause this one fits a KZ750, the next fits the GS750, the third fits the CB750, etc. At least here in the bike field what we want is fairly limited. Have you any idea how many "universal fit" products fit my '55 Plymouth? I do, it's about 2,500 of the 3,000 listings that come up for "1955 Plymouth". There's no good way to filter through this garbage either
