Re the bike in this thread, http://kawi2strokes.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=3536&start=0 finally got the "Right" carb kits (from Dime City, still had the "round" o-ring bowl gaskets ![]() 1) Which way is off on the petcock? ![]() 2) How to set the float level/height? It seems like we got the needles closed off completely, it will run with starting fluid but dies right away and won't take any throttle (seems to have no effect). So, we now have gas on the outside of the engine but can't get it inside where it will do some good! ![]() |

See the first thing is you broke your own rule to start with (we dont need no stinkin cams) and as far as technical advice all I can tell you is dont light a match. ![]() |

Had the exact same bike - long ago - put 50K miles on it or about - till literally blew the head apart. Can't remember about the petcock but seems obvious. Starting/running - those old carbs prone to leak and the diaphragms crack bleeding air - the usual carb stuff. I might have a few extra carbs though - want them? I'll ship them to ya free no prob. |

I did some carb work on a CB650 last year and had the same problem. I had the carbs off several times and swore they were surgically clean. There is one jet that you have to use an easy-out to remove. I think this is the pilot jet. There was a small amount of crud in the bottom of each one. Put it back together and it fired right up. I know that these won't be the same carbs but they may be close cousins. |
