Sincerely, I am trying to not let things bother me. I figure my second fifty years are not going to last anywhere near as long as my first, so why let the small things bother me?
If I knew the answer to that I could probably retire!
OK, I had to make a trip to a customers to pull some data for analysis. It's about 68 miles one way, mostly highway.
People who can not drive and talk or text at the same time piss me off. Now, let me qualify this, I do believe that there are some people who can chew gum and walk at the same time, just as there are people who can multi-task - and there are others who can not.
Yesterday was the worst I had experienced in a long time. Men and women who could not maintain a set speed (ever hear of cruise control?) or maintain their lanes - and each was one of the following:
- Ancient living mummies, people so old I do not care how crappy they drive. These were the minority and I can accept them for what they are.
- Men or women who appear to be highly educated and prosperous who were texting - no excuse, on my crap list.
- Men or women who appear to be highly educated and prosperous who were talking on their cell phone - completely unacceptable, as for each of these idiots I passed dozens of others who could handle both functions acceptably.
- Anyone and everyone who drives in the passing (left) lane. In Missouri, it is ONLY for passing, it is the law.
So the roads pretty much sucked, I could of taken backroads but I was in a hurry.
My apologies to the band of pirates heading to Sturgis that I passed on the right at speeds nearing those traveled by light. Bikers who travel in a pack and then ride in the passing lane as about as low as low can be, although they are a notch above the jerks in the $60,000.00 vehicles who can not handle a phone and driving at the same time....
I'm sure I pissed off a few people myself yesterday, but, as "Bo's"
(was one of my tech's) grandma used to say, "Better pissed off than pissed on".
Rant mode off, back to work, thanks for listening, looking forward to hearing what pisses you off.
